CI Core Rules

Etiquette & Sportsmanship

Fair Play

Fortune's Landing is a game, and is meant to be fun for everyone involved. This requires that everyone be able to trust one another, and that everyone agree to play by the same rules. Cheating of any kind violates that trust, and makes the game less fun for everyone. After all, there is no "winner" in a game like this; the players who have the most fun are not always the ones who finish with the most stuff. So if there isn't any material way to win, there really isn't any point to fudging your stats, "forgetting" to discard blown protection spells, or any other means of "beating the system".

Character death is not the end of the world. Sometimes a heroic death can be as satisfying as a long but boring life - in a fantasy world, anyway. Look at it as the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next; you now have the opportunity to create a new personality, with new goals and new values. There may be mystical means by which your character may be brought back - and even if you aren't, it's just a game!

Cheating

Fortune's Landing is a game based on trust, and anyone who violates the spirit of the game by cheating ruins the event for everyone. "Cheating " includes, but is not limited to:

  • Deliberately using abilities you don't have, or using them more than you can (i.e.: casting beyond the limit of your mana, using 5 Wounding Blows in a combat, etc.).
  • Forging or stealing (from Plot/Monstertown) money or item tags;
  • Forging or stealing Experience or Gargoyle point tags;
  • Possession of forbidden items (alcohol, explosives, real weapons, etc.) on site;
  • Keeping items (such as potions, weapons, magic items) out of play (in a suitcase or car) until needed;

Disciplinary Actions

If the Directors of Raging Gargoyle Games/Fortune's Landing find a player or staff member in violation of these rules, they may do one or more of the following:

  • Formal Warning: The person in question is asked not to repeat their behavior. Usually given for unsafe combat or other, non-deliberate violations.
  • Combat Probation: The person in question is banned from combat until further notice. This step may be taken after repeated instances of being unsafe.
  • Expulsion: The individual is found in clear and deliberate violation of the above rules. He will be asked to leave site, and will not be allowed to participate for the duration of that event. In some cases, this may extend from one month to one year.
  • Dismissal: Any player found to be in deliberate violation of a rule after being expelled at any point in the past will be dismissed, and will no longer be allowed to participate in any Fortune's Landing or other Raging Gargoyle Games sponsored events.

The decision of the Directors is final in all Disciplinary matters.
