There are six races that inhabit the main continent of the known world. Any race can be found anywhere on the continent; however, there are distinct areas where certain races are dominant. Each of these areas has a capital city that houses the government of each race.
Each race has it's own racial ability that is related to that race's element. This ability can be used once per 12 hour period; it renews at sunrise and sunset. There is no cost for racial abilities; they are in-born to every member of a given race. It is impossible to target someone other than the originator with a racial ability.

Activating Racial Abilities - Every race except Human and Shen can activate their racial ability by stating the tagline, "Natural (ability name)."
Because Human and Shen racial abilities are protectives, they take one minute of concentration to invoke. At the end of the minute, the player states "Activate Natural (ability name)."
Activating a racial ability creates a flash of light that is the appropriate for the element of the protective invoked (red for Resist Fire, green for Tree Meld, etc).

Racial Makeup - Each race (except humans) have required racial makeup that must be applied. Each individual of a given race may select the pattern that this makeup has for them, but once selected the pattern is locked for that individual. All of the races have a primary color and a secondary color. Use of the secondary color is not required, and if it is used it cannot exceed a 25% ratio compared to the primary color. The Racial makeup must cover at least 50% of the exposed area of the head and neck. Application of racial makeup to other exposed areas of skin is optional but encouraged (with the exception of the Beradai). The colors and other stipulations are detailed at the end of the expanded information for each race.



  • Beradai -The Beradai are a race of humanoid birds. They are the masters of the Air. Here you can find towering aeries and wondrous works of art. The Beradai are the communication agents of the world. With the ability to fly, they can cover great distances in very little time.

  • Denzorali - Denzorali are masters of stone and they are workers of jewelry. Very stoic and stern the Denzorali find little humor in anything. They strive as a whole for the great organization of the world. They are the census takers, clerks, and writers of the nations. They can be found in any government position.

  • Humans - The masters of fire are chaotic in their ways and most are looked upon as troublemakers. Living in their great tribes they can be found anywhere. Known for their fiery ways they can be found in almost any fight. Known as land merchants they have formed a citywide bazaar located on the tip of the vast plains sitting on the Boiling Sea.

  • Illuthian - Masters of the forest and living cites flowing from ground to the tops of towering oak trees. One of the oldest and wisest of the races. They have found their knack for talking to trees so that they can supply all the races with limitless amounts of lumber without deforesting the entire continent. Historians and scholars, the Illuthian have been called on for their wisdom and intellect in many conflicts as arbitrators.

  • Jenisari - Even more distrusted than the humans the Jenisari are the total masters of the sea. They are known as pirates, assassins, and swindlers. They travel all the known seas and trade with all the races. Outside the governments control they are tolerated only because of their usefulness in trade and seafaring.
    Racial Abilities: Breathe Water (tagline: Breathe Water - Racial).


  • Shen - The most technologically advanced race, they are the masters of metal. Known everywhere for their unfailing honor and the close ties to the Totes as bodyguards they are both feared and admired. Having recently discovered the secrets of the pistol, not even the humans could stop the awesome fighting power of the Shenn.

Crossbreeds

It is well known that the some of the races can breed with select other races and produce viable offspring. These pitiful creatures are always disfigured in some way, sometimes even to the extremes of growing horns or fangs, due to the poor mixing of the blood. Often reviled and shunned by whatever society they find themselves born into the crossbred child will be forced to make his way in a world that will hate him simply for his existing.
Not all races can mix however. It is the belief of the scholars in the Forest of Learning that limits are placed due to the elemental influence on each of the races. In consequence each race can only successfully breed with three other races of complimentary elemental ties. The possible pairings are outlined in the table below:

The Elemental Triangles also determine what alchemical or bonder options are available to the crossbreed. A crossbred character must choose which race is the dominant one in it's makeup. This will determine which racial ability the character has. This will also dictate the makeup requirement for the character. Being a crossbreed requires the character to select one of the following disadvantages (no CP are rewarded for this disadvantage): Monstrous 1, Fast Bleeder, Slow Healer, Frail, Sickly, Lame, or Mute.

Crossbreeds also have a great variety of options open to them on the paths of Alchemy and Bonds. A crossbreed can be a Alchemist of any element in their triangles that have a double crossover. For example, a Shen/Denzorali could be either a Metal, Stone, or Metal/Stone alchemist. Similarly an Illuthien/Denzorali could be wood, stone, or wood/stone alchemist. Influence for dual Alchemists must be purchased seperately for each element and can only be used for spells of the element represented.

Crossbreed bonders work the same way as the alchemists. For example a Shen/Denzorali bonder could choose to have a single bond to Metal, Stone, or Stone/Metal, All Crossbreed characters must be submitted with a detailed history to plot before play. Note to players, some elements may be jealous of other elements and therefore not approve of dual combinations. A bonder can never be a dual bonder of an opposed element.
