The Jenisari

Government
Jenisari government varies from one pod to another. Pods are what 30 or more number of Jenisari are called. Each Pod has a leader selected by combat. This leader (commander) will lead until someone else can take his position through force, deception or charisma. The leader may be female or male and there is no age limit. There is also no restriction on Race, however, no one has ever seen a human in an Pod. Once a Commander is appointed they may select several leutenients directly under them. As a Pod grows positions are earned through skill and how much you bribe or impress the Commander. There are more than 100 some Pods ranging in size from 30-3000+ Jenisari. All Jenisari Pods have some sort of water creature name. These names are usually painted on the Pods ships (Laughing dolphin, Sirens Call, Minows Tail, etc). Because the Jenisari do not abide by the Government of all the other races they are viewed as thieves and pirates. Many of the Governments tolerate them because of their booming trade business.

Jenisari Racial Views
Jenisari are as different as the many fish in the sea and so are their views. They do not really like humans and tend to throw them over board or drown them. It is ill luck to have someone that likes to burn things. Especially when the ships are made of wood. It is a rare thing indeed to see a Human sailor and unheard of to see a human in a Pod. Jenisari seam to have the best relationship with the Illuthien as they get most of their ships from them. While the Illuthien may build and sail the fastest ships of the continental races. The Jenisari where born to sail and no other race can match the grace speed and knowledge of a Jenisari crew. A seasoned Jenisari crew can make a ship look like it is flying over the waters. Crossbreeds - Halfbreeds are accepted by how well they perform in the Pod. Each Pod is different and if the Halfbreed can prove themselves a worthy fighter, spellcaster, brewer, etc then they are accepted. It is known that there have been Halfbreed Captains and even Halfbreed Pod leaders.

Jenisari Artistic Views
Jenisari love the art of body painting. They veiw the naked body as one of the most beautiful and graceful of objects. They love to make necklaces of pearls, coral and water lilies. They also like to decorate their ships and sails with intricate paterns that tell stories of sailing. One of the favorite pastimes of Jenisari is to water dance. This involves swimming with Dolphins.

Jenisari Commerce
The Jenisari do a booming business in many different things. They are the primary seafood producers. They also trade in pearls, slaves, ships, and just about anything else that you might want to buy. They are known for selling items taken from raided ships. The White Dolphin Pod, Red Eal Pod, Coral Dancers Pod, all have lucrative trade deals with the Illuthiens. All other Jenisari trade, steal, or buy ships from anyone willing to sell. There are also some reports of Jenisari made ships. Some speculate from Jenisari controlled islands. Known pirate Pods are Kraken, Broken Wave, Sargaso, Blue Oyster, Black Pearl.

Jenisari Cities
There are no known Jenisari cites. Many Jenisari have small villages or towns on remote islands. Some have even tamed great sea turtles to carry the villages on. There is one permanent known town called Smugglers run. This town is only accessable by an underwater cavern large enough for a small boat. Anything one might want to buy or sell is allowed here. Travelers beware! The town is considered by many nations criminal, and watched by the Illuthien government. Pirates and thieves frequent this place.

Racial Makeup
Jenisari must wear a distinctive pattern of blue, although this can be accentuated with white. A two color pattern cannot exceed a 75%/25% ratio.
